Getting Married in Church
Steps to take to wed at church:
- Make an Appointment with the pastor as early as possible, preferably, 1 year before a planned date for wedding. Get a copy of the 'Marital Guidelines'. Confirm the date with the pastor to ensure the date is acceptable.
- Complete a Marriage Course [Check date for next course]
- Get in touch with the pastor at least 3 months prior to the agreed wedding date to be introduced to the wedding assistant in church.
What other kind of help can be expected?
Questions as followed can be answered as you meet with the pastor:
- What if my partner is not a believer?
- What if our family members are not believers?
- How do I finance my wedding?
The Marriage Course
Marriage Course - the Friend Environment
We have vast experiences in helping couples through the wedding. We have a well established Marriage Course which serves to guide you on fundamentals in martial relationship. It is a popular course run in a friendly environment. Many non-members often join us and go through the course in a warm, light and comfortable atmosphere. The course is free but valuable.
It is conducted in English and Mandarin.
Why marry in Church?
A
wedding consists of a marital vow and the exchange of rings.
Wedding in church is first and foremost, a worship. We honor God who is the creator of marital covenant. A man and a woman exchange their vow in front of God and His people in church and that forms the foundation of a marriage relationship.
This relationship between husband and wife is to reflect Christ's love for the church. Hence, we take marriage seriously.
